They are all a dual D-type flip-flop. In principle you can chance the
HCTLS by both HC or LS versions, but the HC is preferable, because it's
lower power consumption and higher speed.
The difference between HCT and HCTLS is negligible and I think that Padial
used the HCTLS just because he needed high speed and he hadn't the HCT in
his own supply (and of course had the HCTLS in his own supply).
So, if you have on your own supply a 74HC74 and a 74LS74, then I recommend
that you use 74HC74.
