Making system disk.
First, Make a system disk for smooth installation.
============================================================
Prepare a new disk. (90mm/3.5inches, 2DD/720kB type)
And MEGA-SCSI utility disk.
Following files are needed.
MSXDOS.SYS
COMMAND.COM
MSXDOS2.SYS
COMMAND2.COM
(If you use MSX-DOS2, you don't need MSXDOS.SYS/COMMAND.COM)
Format the disk and copy MSXDOS(2).SYS/COMMAND(2).COM to the disk.
And copy all files in MEGA-SCSI utility disk to the disk.
After copying, use the system disk.
On the installation work, keep the disk 'Write enable'.

Install MEGA-SCSI kernel to S-RAM
To use MEGA-SCSI, you have to install MEGA-SCSI kernel.

Prepare the MEGA-SCSI cartridge and the system disk.
Following comannds are needed.
KSAVER.COM
MGINST.COM
Power off your MSX.
Insert the MEGA-SCSI cartridge to SLOT-#1
Insert the system disk to floppy disk drive.
Push S-RAM shadow switch with a ball-point pen till MSX-DOS boots.
(Shadow switch places on back of cartridge. About 2mm hole you can find.)
Power on.
When MSX-DOS prompt ('A>') appears, release the shadow switch.
Copy MSX-DOS(2) ROM kernel data to the system disk.

Install ROM kernel to MEGA-SCSI S-RAM.

After the messege, reset your MSX.
You find that Drive-A is ESE-RAM disk drive.
And floppy disk drives are on drive-B and C.
You can use ESE-RAM drive if you don't have any SCSI devices.

!'/Sx' option is needed to direct slot number of MEGA-SCSI.
!(After installation you can insert any slot on MSX)
!The number is described by HEX number.(0,1,2,,,8F)
!For example, to direct MEGA-SCSI on slot #1-2.

!If you are assembler programmer, you know the BIOS 'ENASLT(0024h)'.

Format a hard disk drive (HDD).
Perhaps, you want to connect HDD to MEGA-SCSI.
============================================================
Following comannds are needed.
SFORM-1.COM
SFORM-2.COM
If you use MEGA-SCSI on MSX-DOS1, use SFORM-1.COM.
In case of MSX-DOS2, use SFORM-2.COM.
No option is needed. (Alternative operation.)
And if you are not sure what to input, just hit [return] key.
SFORM-x.COM choice the good one automatically.

Here you hit '0[return]' or only '[return]'.
The default number is 0, then you need not input the number.

If you want maximum and best choice, just hit [return].
Default is 32MB.
If you want 16MB partition, hit '32768[return]' or '8000h[return]'.
This example is 1GB HDD. then you can make 33 partitions.

You need only to hit [return]. That was the last partition.

|Are you sure ? (check access lamp and hit 'Y')

You will find the flashing of access lamp on HDD.
It means that SFORM-x.COM will format the HDD.
After your 'Y', the format starts. Wait a minute, please.
!(caution)
!If you use SFORM-1.COM, you can use both MSX-DOS1 and 2.
!But SFORM-2.COM is much efficient for MSX-DOS2.
!Then I recommend you to use SFORM-2.COM.

Set up partitions.
ESET.COM connects HDD to the drives.
============================================================
Following comannds are needed.
ESET.COM
CP.COM
No option is needed. (Alternative operation.)
ESE window system boots up. Screen 0, Width 80 is good.

Choice 'Auto setup' and hit 'Y' (yes).
If you use MSX-DOS2, choice 'Quit' and reset your MSX.
In case of MSX-DOS1, choice 'Auto setup' and hit 'Y' (yes), first.
Second, choice 'Easy setup','Connect drive','N'(drives) and '2'.
The number of drives is limited to two drives.
(On MSX-DOS1, you can't use much drives.)
Third, choce 'Quit' and reset your MSX.
ESET.COM doesn't support partition setup.
You have to use CP.COM.
In case of MSX-DOS2.
This is just an example.

Flexible assignment is allowed.
After this, you can change partition any time you want.
Yes, it's like a change directry command.
Partition number is directed in HEX (not decimal)
(0,1,2,,,8,9,A,B,C,,,FF)
For example,

!Don't assign same partition to some drives.

!CP.COM protects drive C and E. Then you can't write to drive C and E.
!Some guys troubled in the write protected partition. Be cautious.

Connect Magnetic Optical, Zip and PD.
Like a HDD, you can connect MO, Zip and PD to MEGA-SCSI.

Following comannds are needed.
SFORM-x.COM
ESET.COM
CP.COM
It's same way to connect HDD.
First, format with SFORM-x.COM and use ESET.COM and CP.COM.
(On eset.com 'Easy setup/Connect drive' is useful.)

Connect CD-ROM.
Yes, MSX CD extention enables you to use CD-ROM drive.

Following comannds are needed.
ESET.COM
MSXCDEX.COM
PCDVT.COM
CDDA.COM
First, use 'ESET.COM' and 'Easy setyp /Connect drive'.
After connecting CD-ROM, boot MSXCDEX.COM. No option is needed.

You can read many CD-ROM data/files.
!(caution)
!'MSXCDEX.COM' works on MSX-DOS2 only.
!If you don't use MSX-DOS2, it doesn't work.
If you want to watch Kodak's Photo-CD, use PCDVT.COM
For example Photo-CD is assigned on drive F:

You can watch all the photos on the CD.
(PCDVT is remain test version then you can watch them in monochrome.)
At time to play music CD, it's simple.
You need not any option for CDDA.COM.

Following key is available.
[return] : Start playback
[space] : Stop play
[tab] : Eject media.
[cursor-left] : Move to previous track
[cursor-right]: Move to next track
In some CD-ROM drive, theese keys also available.
[tab]+[shift] : Insert media.
[cursor-up] : Fast playback
[cursor-down] : Fast reverse playback

Virtual FD mode.
You can play many softwares for FDD on HDD.

Following comannds are needed.
FDSAVE.COM
EP.COM
Make floppy image files.
For example of 'the tower of gazzel'(by MICRO CABIN).

|(Push and hold [KANA] key until 'CAPS-lamp' flashes.)
|(Push '0',,,'3' of numeric-keys. It means gallzel disk 1st to 4th.)
|(In case to change another disk, push [KANA] till 'CAPS' flashes.)

If you reset your MSX again, the game re-boots.
To end the game, reset and push [GRPH]+[INS] keys till DOS/BASIC boots.
!(note)
!Explaination for the guys who don't understand which is [KANA] key ...
!On turbo-R keyboard, [KANA] places next to [PAUSE]. Yes, it's [KANA] key.
!(caution)
!Prepare some partition only for VFD.
!You had better not to save image-files on usual partitions.
!If you make image-files on usual partition, 'FAT chain error' occurs.

Virtual FD on DOS.
You can assign image-files to DOS drives.

Following comannds are needed.
FDSAVE.COM
EP.COM
CP.COM
Make a floppy image file.
For example, MSX-DOS system disc.

Animation play/record.
You can operate real-time animation (graphics and voice).

Following comannds are needed.
EVA-00.COM
Example to record one minutes (60 seconds) animation.
A video digitizer HBI-V1(SONY) is needed for recording.
Input video signal to digitizer and sound to microphone.

For your confortable operation.

The battery is CR2032 (coin litium battery).

And wash cartridge connector with absolute alcohol.
