But if you are in a car and trying to get directions back toãyour hotel, for example, you are depending on services like google not toãsteer you through bad areas but they do now.ããThe ironic thing is that, in the particular case I am thinking of, not onlyãdid it take me through a bad area, it took me out of my way to get there.ãI later figured out I could have taken a left sooner and had aãstraight-shot back to where I wanted to go. In this case, I doubt I would have made a headline unlessãsomething bad happened while I was being taken through a rough area. Iãcould not even tell you for sure what the racial makeup of that area was.ããIronically, if you were to ask me what one area of my town to avoid, itãwould be an area that is very white.
