Hi all!ããI am a long time D&D'er (started in 1977) and have a group of gamers that have been playing for 15 years running.ã(we are using a game system that is rooted in Steve Jackson's TFT, with house mods). I'd be interested in getting a group of BBS folk together in a campaing, maybe 5e or 1e.ã---ã þ Synchronet þ Vertrauen þ Home of Synchronet þ [vert/cvs/bbs].synchro.netã

I think I prefer B/X toãboth but I am a bit of a weir case there. The only D&D iteration I activelyãhate is 3e so I am open to ideas :-)ãã--ãgopher://gopher.richardfalken.com/1/richardfalkenãã---ã þ Synchronet þ Palantir BBS * palantirbbs.ddns.net * Pensacola, FLã

Theyãsounds possibly like roll20? that'sãwhere most groups tend to play, evenãlocal to each other as at my age youãcant nip over to someone's house forãthe best part of a day, and the largerãthe group the less likely it is thatãeveryone can make it at the same timeãso it always tends to go to roll20ã----------------------ãUnited Kingdom BBS: ukbbs.zapto.org:64 (40cols) ukbbs.zapto.org:128 (80cols)ãã---ã þ Synchronet þ United Kingdom BBS - ukbbs.zapto.orgã

For whatever reason, I never got into it though. I'd sometimes stay up that late playing multiplayer PC games with people though.ããNightfoxãã---ã þ Synchronet þ Digital Distortion: digitaldistortionbbs.comã

I haven't had much experience with multiplayer cooperative. Much of the time, I'd play deathmatch games. By then you had all thisãmechanic of taking cover for "healing" et all. D&D 4.0 was bad, and 5 seems too far out there. Prior to the Covid crap we'd get together once a month. We started around 77 also, with the White Box. If they had released it with other name, it would have been remembered asãan ok roleplaying game with heavy skirmishing mechanics. The game only becameãunworkable once your adventures hit parangon tier (10+ lvl). After that point,ãcombats were decided in a couple of turns and everythign after that was a grindãto see how long it took the losers to die.ããD&D 5 reminds me of Castles and Crusaders. The core mechanics are very basicãand feel like a reminiscence of the OSR, but resource and skill management areãNew School. It works extremely well for megadungeon campaigns as long as noãcharacter falls behind the rest of the group by a lot of XP.ãã--ãgopher://gopher.richardfalken.com/1/richardfalkenãã---ã þ Synchronet þ Palantir BBS * palantirbbs.ddns.net * Pensacola, FLã
