Hey, DoveNET. Does anyone else out there use the Dell r730/730xd platform and wouldn't mind emailing about the system?

I finally scored my r730xd and I'm super impressed with it so far. I'm in the testing process and is just blew through all stress-ng tests with ease and didn't get over 65C!

I'm learning about the Perc 730 Mini, and the Perc S130 CPU RAID on the mobo. Since I'd like to run Proxmox and TrueNAS as a VM on top, I would normally pass the entire Perc RAID card to TrueNAS, but I'd prefer only passing through 8-10 of the front bays to TrueNAS... or, putting the rear 2.5" bays on the S130 and then passing the entire 12 bays on the Perc 730 to TrueNAS. Or, find another way to pass HDDs to TrueNAS on the hardware level.

At any rate, I'll be doing major testing and reconnaissance before I do ANYTHING, but I hope to use this machine to consolidate two other PowerEdge servers into.

Anyway, if you know way more than me, I'd love to chat yer ear off... if you have the email time.

of 720XDs that I repurposed. Might be able to answer questions on the
730xd. They were great fun, I loved them.

If you do some digging around inside, you might have bootable 2 SD card
slots as well.
