  • Scanner problem: gray background

    Hi all,ããI still have an HP 2620 All in One printer that I use mainly for its scannerãunder GNU/Linux. Recently, the scans started to have a heavy grey backgroundãwhich consumes a lot of ink when printing.ããI was able to resolve this issue by increasing the brightness in SimpleãScan's preferences, but another Smart Tank All in One printer didn't needãsuch an adjustment.ããSo I'm wondering what may have caused this. Have you experienced somethingãsimilar? Could it be that the lamp is starting to die? If so, would changingãit be a good idea?ããThanks in advance.ãããã... And there was no gray background on theãcopy, so at least it's clear it's not a hardware problem. What caused it isãstill a mystery (maybe the fact that I added a "smart tank" printer), butãit can be solved by a simple preference modification.ãã...
