I just leanred about another secure chat app.ããhttps://briarproject.org/how-it-works/ããFrom the manual..ãã"What is Briar?ãã"Briar is a messaging app designed for activists, journalists,ãand anyone else who needs a safe, easy and robust way toãcommunicate. Unlike traditional messaging apps, Briar doesn'tãrely on a central server - messages are synchronized directlyãbetween the users' devices. If the internet's down, Briar canãsync via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, keeping the information flowing inãa crisis. If the internet's up, Briar can sync via the Torãnetwork, protecting users and their relationships fromãsurveillance.ããIt cooperated nicely on my Android-capable Blackberry. I seemsãto operate much like Session, very discreet, and user-ãcontrolled. But unlike Session's putrid neon green for chat ãbubbles, Briar is easier on the eyes!ããIt has a built-in "blog" that can be used to broadcast aãmessage to all known "Contacts".ãããã--- OpenXP 5.0.51ã * Origin: Ogg's Dovenet Point (723:320/1.9)ã þ Synchronet þ CAPCITY2 * capcity2.synchro.net * Telnet/SSH:2022/Rlogin/HTTPã

We exchanged our links via Telegram.ããI'm in a network of 3 users now. We are exploring its options. ãApparently, each person can have their own "blog" as a means to ãmake an announcement (and receive comments) to all persons who ãare in one's Contacts. There is also an "open forum" and ã"private forum" option. All of that is described on the online ãmanual page.ããIt doesn't have the ability to re-edit a message once posted. ãBut messages can be deleted at any time, and therefore ãreplaced.ããOh.. a couple of other "secure" feature perhaps:ãã[1] links are not hot. ie. are not clickable.ãã[2] messages from the 1-to-1 pvt chats and "blog" cannot be ãcopied; only messages from the "forum" can be copied.ããIt seems to be kinda like a utilitarian cross between DeltaChat ãand Discord.ããBut perhaps a salient feature might be that it supports comms ãbetween users on Bluetooth and wifi. So.. if the internet ãmight be down, at least a close community of users could still ãexchange messages, or until ONE person obtains internet access.ãã--- OpenXP 5.0.51ã * Origin: Ogg's Dovenet Point (723:320/1.9)ã þ Synchronet þ CAPCITY2 * capcity2.synchro.net * Telnet/SSH:2022/Rlogin/HTTPã

The Matrix clients, like Element, are pretty decent and good enough for modern people's desire for emojis and stickers and crap. It also has a pretty cool CLI client called Gomuks I think it was.ãã---ã þ Synchronet þ Final Zone BBS - finalzone.ddns.net - www.xadara.comã

I ãcan't use it on the phone 'cuz my Blackberry (Android 4.3 max) ãwon't support it.ããI don't know what a Matrix-Synapse system is.ããBut Briar operates very nicely on the phone. It does NOT do ãsticker stuff/craft, but it does support a modest handful of ãemojis if desired.ããI believe that Briar is *only* available as a smartphone app.ããã--- OpenXP 5.0.51ã * Origin: Ogg's Dovenet Point (723:320/1.9)ã þ Synchronet þ CAPCITY2 * capcity2.synchro.net * Telnet/SSH:2022/Rlogin/HTTPã
