Hello MRO!ãã M> i'm sure it wouldn't function well. the built in browser is shit.ã M> https://robotpoweredhome.com/internet-browser-on-samsung-tv/ããMost of the CONS about the browser are:ãã[o] Java applications are not compatible.ãã[o] Flash video files are not supported.ãã[o] It cannot play certain HTML5-based audio/video content.ããBut sofar, most sites even YT (they are HTML5 since many years ãago now) work OK, so that article is outdated.ããThe first-time use of the browser seemed to have issues with ãcertain sites. But an update was available. After that, most ãsites cooperated very well.ããThe browser is Tizen. The update seems to support HTML5 now.ããThe TV itself was a floor model and the user got it at half ãprice. It's a fairly badass 42" or something.ããAnother option might be to install a conventional browser and ãoperate that as an app.ããã--- OpenXP 5.0.51ã * Origin: Ogg's Dovenet Point (723:320/1.9)ã þ Synchronet þ CAPCITY2 * capcity2.synchro.net * Telnet/SSH:2022/Rlogin/HTTPã

That made a world of difference for manipulating the tv ãbrowser. The orig article mentioned how terrible the browser is ãbut it did not mention that the tv can also allow attaching kb ãand mouse.ããThe client has never used a computer mouse! ..so, watching him ãget acquainted with "left-click" "right-click" and controlling ãscrolling is a bit strainful. anyways, you dont know until you use it.
it's not a good browser, no matter how you cut it.

on this newer tv we have i wouldnt want to use it.

Depends, the software has seen updates... it's a fork of Chrome for Android/Tizen.

Have them get an androidtv box if they want to use their television
    for more than a television.

you can get one on amazon with a gaming controller with keyboard and
mouse built in, and a remote control for 40 bucks

You can use a USB keyboard/mouse device on the TVs as well, my mom uses
    one for hers.

The tv can operate purely as just a ãdisplay for an actual pc connected to it, but the extra ãequipment and operation would be a bit overwhelming for him at ãthis stage.ããHe also has a Samsung tablet that he doesn't like to use at ãall.ããWhen I get a chance, I will try to see if I can install a ãChrome app on it.
