JavaScript Nodelist Browser/Search
From
Psi-Jack@VERT/DECKHVN2 to
DOVE-Net.Synchronet_JavaScript on Mon Oct 6 11:44:08 2014
Just curious if anyone has done anything like this, or is interested and capable.
I'd like to be able to search and browse a FTN-style nodelist of some
sort. Or multiple nodelist files for several networks would be most ideal.
Does anyone know if such a JavaScript module exists that could be used,
or if anyone's working on such a thing, or would be willing to take on
this kind of project that could be used in a fairly modular way so that
one could tie it into their email/netmail system to be able to look up
an address and show the node information so someone trying to send mail
to the destination can see and verify that it's going to where they'd
expect?
I'd be curious to see such a thing, and I'm not, personally, yet fully
capable of programming it, but I plan to as I get more in-depth into
learning.

This doesn't sound like JavaScript at all,ãmore like a door, which is not what I'm asking for at all. :)ããI'm actually asking for a JavaScript, so that I could tie it in with myãexisting system that, during sending netmail to an obvious FTN style address,ãit can do a lookup and provide a summary.ãã---ã>>>[Psi-Jack -//- Decker]ã þ Synchronet þ Decker's Heaven -//- bbs.deckersheaven.comã

I found some JavaScript code that can parse a nodelist file, it's justãusing node.js, so requires some porting to get it native to Synchronet.ããIf nobody here is interested and more capable than I, I'll take on the projectãmyself and do it. ããThat project is here:ãhttps://github.com/Mithgol/node-fidonet-nodelistããLooks cool, possible, just needs a good chunk of porting, but if done, onlyãneeds to be done once, then it can be used quite a lot in different ways sinceãit provides the data in a usable object format.ã ã--- ã>>>[Psi-Jack -//- Decker]ã þ Synchronet þ Decker's Heaven -//- bbs.deckersheaven.comã

Ifãyou want to contact someone at a BBS they can give you an netmail address whereãthey can be reached, and if you want to contact a system operator of a BBS youãcan usually address sysop@1:218/600, Synchronet will drop sysop emails to myãbox as do most BBSs.ããHere's a great webpage, you can enter the name of a Sysop and it'll list everyãnode under that name. If you know the name of a Sysop you can probably findãtheir board history here...ãã
