Hey Tamas,
=20
maybe it=E2=80=99s still a battery problem, better the battery isn=E2=80=99=
t connected properly. You should use a battery adapter which will be solder=
ed on the board. I did it with mine and it works well. You are able to repl= ace the cells very easily. If the battery doesn=E2=80=99t work than the ROM=
s (battery buffered) won=E2=80=99t work too. May that=E2=80=99s the reason = why the CPC loops during booting.

Betreff: [symbos8bit] Symbiface II Coin battery replacement (gone wrong :-(=
)
=20
Hi all,
=20
Greetings! This is my first post here. :-)
And I have to say in advance that I am not really
an expert in electronics I am afraid.
=20
I own a Symbiface II board which I use with my old and trusty
Schneider CPC 6128. I had the board quite a while and
after switching on the CPC after several month, I noticed that
my saved rom programs were not really working anymore.
(Symbos did not boot properly, etc.)
So I thought it is time to replace the coin battery.
I bought a DL2032 battery (I read that it is just a CR2032 made by Duracell=
)
and tried to replace it with the old one.
I had a hard time doing it as it seemed to stuck or glued to the electrodes=
.
In the end I managed to do it. I put in the new one but since then, my
CPC won't boot properly. When I am switching it on, it goes into some kind
of boot loop, repeating to display the copright message over and over again=
.
So I am afraid, that I probably wrecked my board. If I pull the ribbon cabl=
e from
the expansion port the CPC boots normally, so I beileve the the Symbiface 2= =20
what has a problem.
=20
The dip switched are in their usual state: switch 0 and 7 are off,
the rest are on. I did not change any jumpers, etc.
=20
Any ideas guys? Anything to check or to do?
(Maybe somebody who can do repairs if needed? Not for free ofc.)
One last node: the electrodes are not so tightly connected to the battery n= ow,
but I believe they do touch it, so I think this should be enough.
=20
Thanks in advance,
=20
Tamas
Ps: I know, I am really an amateur. :-)
